Pakistani security forces have abducted 8 persons including a woman from districts of Kech and Awaran of Balochistan in last three days.
On June 28, Twenty years old, Bibi Aamna d/o Mahmod abducted by Pakistani security forces from Atta Mohammad Bazar of Sodd, Jhao, district Awaran. She is from Sodd, a far located, remote and rural village of Jhao, she went to fetch water from the nearby river when abducted by the forces. Mahmod, Aamna’s father has also been abducted six months before from Dost hotel in Hub-Chowki, district Hub. And her brother Khalid was abducted one week after their father’s abduction when forces raided their house. Two days prior of Aamna’s abduction on June 26, abduction of three women, Bibi Saima, Gul Banu and her daughter Bibi Ganjal have also been reported from the same area, after one day of severe torture they were released in a critical condition. Continuous abductions of women in Jaho shattered the lives of the locals and left them in despair. Bibi Aamna was later released in the mountainous areas.
June 27, forces abducted 60 years old Jan Mohammad Pendag from Bazdad district Awaran.
June 26, forces abducted Uzair Wahid Bakhsh, Badal Rafiq, Wasim Rafiq, Pirjan Bashir, Rahmat Ometan and Shabir Doshambey from Gebun, district Kech. All the abductees have been shifted to unknown location and their whereabouts remain unknown to their families.
The Pakistan military adopted a policy of enforced disappearances to stifle the Baloch peoples struggle for their political and economic rights. Since 2004, thousands of Baloch activists, poets, students, rights activists and others have been forcibly disappeared. The military keeps their whereabouts unknown and subjects them to torture for months.
In 2009, the situation got worse. The Pakistan military abducted three key Baloch leaders, including Ghulam Mohammad Baloch who was the President of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), from the Turbat city of Balochistan on April 3, 2009. In a week, on April 9, their tortured and bullet-riddled bodies were found dumped near the Turbat city. It was the beginning of the military’s now infamous kill-and-dump operations, in which they abduct political activists, journalists, educationists, student activists and human rights defenders, and later dump their bodies in desolated areas.
