Human Rights Violations in Balochistan: 87 Enforced Disappearances and 155 Killings Reported in August 2026
In August 2026, the Human Rights Council of Balochistan (HRCB) documented 87 cases of enforced disappearance across Balochistan, including eight women and 17 teenagers. Students constituted the largest group of victims, while Quetta and Karachi recorded the highest number of cases. The majority of enforced disappearances were reportedly attributed to the Frontier Corps, followed by other state authorities. Only a small number of those disappeared were later released.
During the same month, 155 killings were documented across Balochistan, including 23 individuals who had previously been subjected to enforced disappearance.
Enforced Disappearances
Of the total 87 enforced disappearance cases documented during the reporting period, 10 related to unreported cases from previous months. The victims included 79 men and eight women. By the end of the reporting period, 22 individuals had reappeared, while the majority remained missing.
House raids were the most commonly documented method of abduction, accounting for 67 cases, followed by 17 arrests after detention and three abductions at checkpoints.
The Frontier Corps (FC) was reportedly responsible for the largest number of cases (36), followed by intelligence agencies (23) and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) (21). Rangers were reportedly involved in six cases, while one case was attributed to a death squad.
Geographically, Quetta recorded the highest number of enforced disappearances (23 cases; 26.4%), followed by Karachi (21; 24.1%) and Kech (20; 23.0%). Mastung accounted for seven cases (8.0%), Awaran for five (5.7%), and Gwadar for three (3.4%). The remaining cases were reported from Chagai, Khuzdar, Dera Bugti, Panjgur, Washuk, and Nushki.
Students constituted the largest occupational group among those disappeared (25 cases), followed by labourers (17) and individuals whose occupations could not be determined (17). Other victims included shopkeepers (10), fishermen (7), housewives, farmers, agricultural workers, drivers, a PTCL tower operator, a police constable, a teacher, and a mechanic.
Cases:
August 01
- Shahid, son of Abdul Hameed, a mechanic and resident of Shambe Goth Sharafi Malir, Karachi, was forcibly disappeared by Rangers and CTD at around 1:30 AM from Shambe Goth Sharafi Malir, Karachi.
- Osama, son of Sadiq, 26, and Niaz, son of Rasheed, 25, both labourers and residents of Haji Shah Ali Town, Sharafi Malir, Karachi, were forcibly disappeared together by Rangers and CTD at around 1:30 AM from Haji Shah Ali Town. Niaz was later released on August 29.
- Asif Ali, son of Ahmed Raza, 40, a shopkeeper and resident of Killi Shaheed Haji Ramzan, Jabal-e-Noor Brewery Bypass, Quetta, was forcibly disappeared by ISI and CTD at around 4:00 PM from his home. He was later released on August 17.
- Rahmatullah, son of Saib Khan, 24, a labourer, and Sultan, son of Siraj, 18, a student, both residents of Sorgaz, Mastung, were forcibly disappeared together by the FC at around 5:00 PM from Mamni Dasht, Baba Pringabad, Mastung.
August 02
- Allah Bakhsh, son of Basham Baloch, 28, a teacher and resident of Tikri Village, Mauripur, Karachi, was forcibly disappeared by the Rangers.
August 04
- Asfand Baloch, son of Dost Muhammad Baloch, 17, a student and resident of Killi Almas, Airport Road, Quetta, was forcibly disappeared at around 4:00 AM during a raid on his home by ISI, CTD, and MI.
At the same time, Shoaib Baloch, son of Muhammad Asif Baloch, 19, also a resident of Killi Almas, was forcibly disappeared from his home during the same operation by ISI, CTD, and MI. - Syed Nizam Shah, son of Syed Ghayas, 22, an agriculturalist, and Azhar Ulahaq, son of Abdul Hakeem, 18, a shopkeeper, were forcibly disappeared by the FC from their hometown, Shasalar, Chaghi. Both were released on August 19.
- In Turbat, Kech, brothers Shahid Bijjar and Fahad Bijjar, sons of Bijjar, were forcibly disappeared by the FC during a late-night raid on their home in the Bug area. Family members were subjected to violence as the house was searched, and valuables were taken before the brothers were taken into custody. The family had previously been subjected to repeated raids and intimidation, including another military raid in July 2026.
August 05
- Abdul Qudoos Zarakzai and his 17-year-old daughter, Aqsa, were forcibly disappeared from their residence in Civil Colony, Khuzdar, during a raid by CTD and plainclothes officials. Residents were physically assaulted and harassed, while women were subjected to harassment. The house was also searched during the raid.
- Five University of Karachi students, Azhar Baloch, son of Hayat, 22, a General History student; Ghos Bakhsh, son of Hayat, 21, a BS Economics student; and Shehzad Baloch, son of Shahid, 22, an Environmental Science student, all from Gwadar; along with Anees Baloch, son of Azeem, 21, a BS Philosophy student from Noshki; and Waseem Baloch, son of Mohammad Ameen, 21, a BS Political Science student from Kalat, were abducted from Bashir Village, Gulshan Iqbal, Karachi, by CTD and MI. Physical violence was allegedly used during the abductions.
- Naseeb Baloch, son of Abdul Rasheed, from Gwadar, was abducted from Shahi Hotel in Padi Zar, Gwadar, by the forces.
- Amir, son of Abdul Wahid, 28, a shopkeeper from Tikkri Village, Maripur, Karachi, was abducted from his home by CTD and Rangers.
August 06
- Shams Ur Rehman, son of Master Shay Bijjar, was a 21-year-old labourer from Dambani Bit, Buleda, Kech. He was abducted by the FC and MI.
- Kamran Jumma, son of Muhammad Jumma, a 24-year-old police constable from Gwashank, Washuk, was abducted from Gwashank Road by a Death Squad.
- Sabir, son of Aziz, was a 28-year-old labourer from Tikkri Village, Maripur, Karachi. He was abducted near his home by Rangers.
- Three residents of Kech were abducted together by FC and MI. Yasir, son of Haji Naik Saal, was an 18-year-old labourer from Dambani Bit, Buleda. Shay Haq, son of Basheer Ahmed, was a 20-year-old student from the same area. Saifullah, son of Zahoor Ahmed, was a 24-year-old labourer from Kaur-a-Posht Bit, Buleda. All three were abducted together.
August 07
- Jaleel, son of Saleem, a 17-year-old shopkeeper from Musa Colony, Saryab, Quetta, was abducted from his home by CTD and MI.
- Abdul Aziz, son of Noor Dad, was abducted from his home in Tikkri Village, Maripur, Karachi, by Rangers. He was a 30-year-old labourer.
August 11
- Sameer, son of Muhammad Khan, and Qaisar Khan, son of Khan Muhammad, both 17, were abducted together from Sameer’s shop in Faizabad, Saryab Road, Quetta, by FC. Sameer was a shopkeeper, while Qaisar, was an F.Sc student. Both were residents of Walli Jett Killi, Sardah, Saryab Road, Quetta.
August 13
- Sohail Nasir, a young man from Hoshakabad, Nasirabad, Kech, was detained by security forces during the early hours of August 13. He was subsequently subjected to enforced disappearance.
August 16
- Five residents of Tikkri Village, Maripur, Karachi, were abducted in separate incidents by CTD, Police and Rangers. Amir, son of Ahmed, 30, and Sakhi, son of Karim Dad, 25, both fishermen, were taken from their homes at around 2:00 AM. At around 7:30 PM, Dost Muhammad, son of Qasim, 25, a labourer, was abducted from his home, while Muhammad Khalid, son of Muhammad Shafi, and Shahbaz Ahmed, son of Niyaz Ahmed, both 20, were abducted together from their homes. Khalid is a fisherman, and Shahbaz is a student. Dost Muhammad and Sakhi were later released on August 29.
- Safar Khan, son of Muhammad Hassan, 42, a driver from Misqueen Street, Kirani Road, Quetta, was abducted from his home at around 4:00 AM by ISI, MI and FC.
August 17
- Four men, Javed, son of Azeem; Maqbool, son of Nematullah; Mujeeb, son of Lal Bakhsh; and Tawfiq, son of Faisal, were detained while fishing in the Nihang River area of Tump, Kech, by security forces and subsequently subjected to enforced disappearance.
- Ibrar Baloch, son of Qadir Baloch, a 16-year-old student from Killi Sarwan Town, Mastung, was abducted at around 1:00 AM by CTD and ISI.
- Riaz Baloch, son of Sattar Baloch, a 17-year-old student from Killi Sarawan Town Pada, Mastung, was also abducted at around 1:00 AM by ISI and CTD.
August 18
- Two brothers, Mehraj Baloch and Irshad Baloch, sons of Hasil, were forcibly disappeared during a military raid in the Bhan area of Turbat.
August 19
- Umaira, 27, and Najma, 28, daughters of Abdul Rasool and residents of Kabo, Mastung, were abducted from Gashkori Town, Quetta, by CTD and FC. Umaira was taken with her 8 year old daughter, Parisa, while Najma was abducted with her one and a half year old son, Zakir.
August 20
- Kamal Baloch, son of Brahim, a labourer from Talamb, Mand, was forcibly disappeared during a raid by the FC in Talamb. He worked as a labourer to support himself and his family.
August 21
- Mudasir Baloch, son of Takari Babul, was a 17-year-old shopkeeper from Karez Kadi, Mastung. He was abducted from Rehman Hotel on RCD Road, Mastung, by FC.
- Hasnain, son of Imdad Baloch, a 16-year-old driver from Sarawan, Panjgur, was abducted near the bus terminal by CTD and MI. He was later released on August 25.
- Agha Gull, son of Saeed Ahmed Kiazai, a 16-year-old student from Killi Shah Nawaz, Quetta, was abducted from his home by FC and CTD.
August 22
- Two brothers, Sajid Baloch and Akeel Baloch, sons of Muhammad Bakhsh, were forcibly disappeared in Gwadar while returning to Sandum Village, Kolwah. The brothers, who worked as labourers in the Kantani area, were intercepted and taken away by military personnel.
August 23
- Safia Baloch, daughter of Abdul Khaliq, was a 20-year-old student from Killi Zayak, Basima, Washuk. She was abducted in Quetta by CTD and ISI.
- Three students from Washuk and Kharan were abducted in Karachi by Rangers. Zubair Baloch, son of Muhammad Yaqoob, 22, from Siahozai, Basima, and Qadeer Baloch, son of Muhammad Rafiq, 21, from Zayak, Basima, were taken separately. Saif ud Deen Baloch, son of Muhammad Iqbal Baloch, 23, from Killi Sarawan, Kharan, was abducted along with them. Zubair and Saif ud Deen were taken from Sharah e Faisal, Drigh Road, while Qadeer was taken from Smit Centre, Gohar Geete. Saif ud Deen was later released on August 31.
- Rafiq Baloch, son of Badain; Shakir Baloch, son of Abdullah; and Gull Banok, daughter of Hammal and wife of Shakir Baloch, were forcibly disappeared during a raid by forces on Zeek village, Geshkor, Kolwa, Awaran.
Bakhtiyar Ahmed, son of Abdul Salam, a 19-year-old shopkeeper from Killi Jamaldini, Nushki, was abducted from Kechi Baig, Quetta, by CTD, FC, and ISI. - Ali Baloch, son of Abdul Hai, a 20-year-old student from Killi Ishqna, Mastung, was abducted from Killi Ishqna by MI.
August 25
- Sameer Baloch was detained from his home in Nushki by FC in the presence of his family and subsequently subjected to enforced disappearance.
August 26
- Hayat, son of Sabzal, a 28-year-old shopkeeper working in Oman and resident of Dasth Konchti, Turbat, Kech, was abducted from his home by CTD, FC and MI. He was later released on August 28.
- Majid Shahwani, son of Ali Akbar, 28, and Abdur Razzaq, son of Kabeer Ahmed, 17, both labourers from Keechi Beg, Damb, Saryab, Quetta, were abducted together from the area by CTD and Police.
August 27
- Salman, son of Wahid, was taken from his home in the Chah Sar area of Turbat by forces and subsequently subjected to enforced disappearance.
August 28
- Yasir Ali, son of Naseer Ahmed, a 19-year-old FSc Pre-Medical student from Sundom Gishkore, Awaran, was abducted from Mallit Plaza, Quarry Road, Quetta, by CTD and MI. He was later released on August 30.
August 29
- Saddam Bugti, son of Mahwat Khan, a 40-year-old shopkeeper from Main Town, Dera Bugti, was abducted from Nawab Bazar, Dera Bugti, by ISI and CTD.
August 30
- Imdad Shahwani, son of Rauf Shahwani, a 30-year-old shopkeeper from Killi Sardhe, Haji Qasim Shahwani Street, Quetta, was abducted from his home by CTD.
Rasheed Baloch, son of Qadir Bakhsh, 38, and Lal Baloch, son of Musa, 36, both farmers from Goristani Shadikaur area of Pasni, Gwadar, were abducted together from their home by FC.
Undocumented Cases from Previous Months
- April 07: Huzaif Shahwani, son of Nizam Ud Deen, a 13-year-old student from Killi Bilal, Main Ghundi, Quetta, was abducted from his home by CTD.
- May 05: Muhammad Riaz Satakzai was forcibly disappeared after personnel of secret agencies took him into custody at the Dagari FC Check Post in Dasht, Mastung, while he was travelling from Quetta to Dagari in a passenger van.
- May 12: Shamroz Shahwani, son of Munir Ahmed, an 18-year-old labourer from Killi Bilal, Main Ghundi, Quetta, was abducted from his home by CTD.
- July 08: Hafeezullah Baloch, son of Khairullah, a 27-year-old labourer from Keachi Baig, Quetta, was abducted from Shahwani Stadium, Quetta, by ISI and CTD.
- July 25: Shah Baksh Babo, son of Babo, a 16-year-old student from Sarikalag Gwarkop, Kech, was abducted from his home by FC.
- July 26: Israr Baloch, son of Abdul Rauf, a 27-year-old labourer from Main Ghondi, Quetta, was abducted from Killi Kamaloo, Saryab Road, Quetta, by CTD and ISI.
- July 28: Shahnaz, daughter of Arif, 17, Sharanaz, daughter of Ajaz, 14, and Arif, son of Essa, 50, a PTCL tower operator, were abducted together from Singabad Karki, Kech, by FC and CTD. Shahnaz and Sharanaz had previously been subjected to enforced disappearance on June 18 by a local Death Squad and were released on July 25 after more than a month in captivity. On August 29, Balochistan Home Minister Zia Lango presented the two girls before the media and alleged that they had been groomed for suicide attacks.
- July 31: Muhammad Nasir, son of Abdul Kareem, a 23-year-old resident of Keachi Baig, Killi Bahrezai, Quetta, was abducted from his home by ISI and CTD.
Killings
Of the total 155 killings documented during August, 150 victims were men, and five were women. The identities of 95 victims could not be confirmed.
Alleged encounters accounted for the largest share of reported killings, with 80 cases (51.6%), followed by encounters (18), fake encounters (12), targeted killings (12), and custodial killings (11). Other reported methods included drone strikes (7), bombardments (6), recovery of bodies (6), and honour killings (2).
The FC was reportedly identified as the perpetrator in 133 cases (85.8%), representing the overwhelming majority of documented killings. Unknown perpetrators accounted for 16 cases (10.3%), while the Death Squad and the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) were each linked to two cases (1.3%). Family members and the CTD were each reportedly responsible for one case (0.6%).
Geographically, Mastung recorded the highest number of killings with 23 cases (14.8%), followed by Panjgur (22; 14.2%), Chagai (21; 13.5%), and Surab (19; 12.3%). Pishin and Khuzdar recorded 15 (9.7%) and 14 (9.0%) cases, respectively. The remaining 41 cases (26.5%) were distributed across other districts, with Naseerabad, Gwadar, and Hub recording the fewest incidents at one case each. Overall, the highest concentration of reported killings was documented in Mastung, Panjgur, Chagai, and Surab.
Fake Encounters
August 06
- During a hearing before Pakistan’s Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances, a police officer stated that Imran Ali had allegedly been killed in an encounter in May 2026. Authorities claimed that his remains could not be preserved and that his body was buried in June, approximately one month after his reported death. His body had reportedly been brought to Civil Hospital, Quetta, along with six others. According to the available information, the families of those individuals were not notified, and the bodies were buried without proper identification or documentation.
August 10
- Security forces killed five individuals in a fake encounter in Chedagi, Panjgur, and transferred their bodies to a hospital. The forces claimed that the five were killed during an operation. The deceased were identified as Pir Jan, 23, son of Kachkol; Shoaib Baloch, a shopkeeper; Hafiz Mudassir; Wazir Ahmed, son of Jamal, a resident of Gwargo; and Jasim, son of Ubaidullah, a resident of Sabz-aab. Pir Jan and Shoaib had previously been subjected to enforced disappearance. Shoaib was forcibly disappeared by security forces on February 8, 2023, while Pir Jan was taken into custody on June 10, 2026. Both remained missing until their bodies were recovered.
Custodial Killings
August 06
- The body of Haibtan, son of Malu Marri, an elderly resident of Bela who had been subjected to enforced disappearance on July 9, was recovered on August 6 from the roadside near Gharibabad along the Hub–Sakuran Road. The body bore visible signs of torture and multiple bullet wounds.
August 08
- The body of Hatim Baloch, son of Ahmed, a 29-year-old government teacher from Washbood, Panjgur, was recovered near Jaffar Scheme on the Main CPEC Road. Hatim had been forcibly disappeared from Washbood Main Bazaar before Eid by a state-backed death squad and remained missing until his body was recovered.
August 22
- The bodies of five individuals were recovered in Panjgur and transferred to Panjgur Teaching Hospital for identification. Three of the victims, Imam, son of Muhammad Ishaq; Majid, son of Abdul Majeed; and Zia, son of Noorullah, all residents of Surdu, had reportedly been abducted by FC personnel during a raid on a wedding ceremony in Panjgur on April 30, 2023. The other two were identified as Salman, son of Pirdan, from Bonistan, and Hafeez, son of Abdul Rehman, from Taar Office.
August 24
- Three bodies recovered in Usta Mohammad were identified as individuals who had been subjected to enforced disappearance by security forces. Two of the victims, brothers Hafiz Muhammad Waqas, a Levies official, and Mitha Khan, a medical student and son of Nawab Khan, were abducted together on May 17, 2026, from Bolan. The third victim was identified as Maqbool Ahmed, son of Jan Muhammad, a resident of Dasht Sabzand.
Civilian Killings and Injuries in Military Operations
During August, several civilians were killed and injured through drone strikes, aerial bombardment, and shootings in different parts of Balochistan. The incidents involved Pakistan’s paramilitary forces, with civilians reportedly targeted or caught in military operations and aerial attacks.
August 05
- Muhammad Aiman, son of Yar Muhammad, was reportedly killed in a drone strike by security forces in Sasol Guro, Khuzdar. According to local sources, Aiman was at a local hotel when the strike occurred.
August 12
- The Pakistan Army bombarded civilian areas in Surab, killing six people and injuring nine others, including women and children. Those killed were identified as Raj Babu, wife of Rasool Bakhsh; Safia, wife of Noor Jan; two-year-old Jalal, son of Noor Jan; Shabbir Ahmed, son of Khudadad; Noor Jan, son of Rasool Bakhsh; and Karim Dad, son of Rasool Bakhsh. Among the injured were several children, including one-year-old Asim, three-year-old Rahabia, five-year-old Sadia, seven-year-old Fatima, two-year-old Zia ur Rehman, one-year-old Ameer, and four-year-old Haseena.
During a military operation in Lijje, Kharan, farmer Sultan Muhammad, son of Haji Malik Usman Sasoli, was reportedly killed in a drone strike by the Army. The operation, which began a day earlier, was reportedly supported by aerial attacks.
August 15
- Habibullah, a farmer from Larkana, Sindh, who worked in Khadkocha, Mastung, was killed in a drone strike in Sharifabad while working on his farm.
- Four labourers, Gul Khan Mugheri, Imran, Ubaidullah, and Jahanzeb Abro, were reportedly killed in a drone strike on a garden in the Geet area of Khadkocha, Mastung. Three others, Ali Raza Mengal, Naseebullah Abro, and Khalid Hussain, were injured in the attack.
August 25
- Meraj, son of Muhammad Mayar, a resident of Pasni and a man with a mental disability, was reportedly shot dead by Pakistan Coast Guard personnel near a Coast Guard camp. According to local sources, Meraj had left his home after waking suddenly at night and was shot when he reached the vicinity of the camp. He died at the scene, and his body was later handed over to his family.
Man Reportedly Killed Inside His Home During a CTD Raid
- 25 August 2026: Akbar Haider, a resident of Singani Sar in Turbat, Balochistan, was reportedly killed inside his home during a raid conducted by Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). In September 2026, his son was reportedly abducted.
Target Killings
August 02
- Armed men attacked a house in Buleda, Kech, reportedly intending to abduct Abdullah’s son. When the family resisted, the attackers opened fire, killing Nizam Abdullah and injuring Abdullah’s wife, Zainab, and daughter, Aisha. The two women were taken to a hospital for treatment.
August 04
- Inayatullah, son of Allah Dina, a 70-year-old retired government teacher and father of Asma Jattak, was shot dead in Shehzad City, Khuzdar, reportedly by state-backed armed groups locally referred to as “Death Squads.” His killing followed a series of attacks against his family. Asma Jattak had been forcibly abducted from her home in February 2025 following her family’s reported rejection of a marriage proposal from a powerful local influential. After her recovery, she and her family campaigned publicly for justice and safety. Her fiancé, Abdul Salam, and uncle, Ashraf Nichari, were also subsequently killed.
August 15
- Bibi Hanifa, wife of Ali Ahmed Mohammad Hasni, and her daughter, Hafsa, were shot dead by unidentified gunmen who reportedly entered their home in Killi Mengal, Nushki. The motive for the killings remains unknown.
August 20 - Armed men intercepted a vehicle at Hub Bypass in Khuzdar, forcibly removed Fareed Ahmed, son of Ali Ahmed, and shot him dead before fleeing the scene. Police shifted his body to a hospital and later handed it over to his family.
August 24
- Unidentified gunmen opened fire in Saranan, Sulaimanzai, killing five people and critically injuring another. According to initial reports, the victims had been detained by the attackers a day earlier while travelling from Qilla Abdullah. The deceased and injured were reportedly residents of Punjab.
Discovered Dead Bodies
- Between August 18 and 26, at least six bodies were recovered from different areas of Kharan, Khuzdar, Surab, Nushki and Kech. On August 18, the body of Ghulam Haider, son of Shahjan, was recovered from Zarozai, Kharan, while a mutilated body was found in Sur Badu, Kharan. Both bodies were shifted to DHQ Hospital for identification and legal formalities. On the same day, residents recovered the body of a 17-year-old youth from Aapak Dam, Khuzdar, which was shifted to Khuzdar for identification. In Surab, the tortured body of an unidentified young man was also recovered, with his identity remaining unknown.
- On August 26, the body of Sanaullah, son of Ataullah, a resident of Killi Jamaldini, Nushki, was found near a Levies checkpoint in Grano, Nushki. Local residents identified him, and the body bore gunshot wounds, although the motive for his killing remained unknown. On the same day, the body of Sherjan, son of Abdul Shakoor, a resident of Gomazi, Kech, was recovered from a forested area in Gomazi. Police said bullet marks were found on his body, indicating that he had been shot.
Alleged Encounters
During the reporting period, Pakistani authorities claimed to have killed dozens of individuals in alleged encounters and intelligence-based operations across Balochistan. Based on documented findings in previous cases, there are serious concerns that these claims may involve victims of enforced disappearance later portrayed as militants. The following incidents are presented based on official statements issued by the authorities.
- On 5 August 2026, security forces reportedly killed six unidentified individuals during an alleged encounter in Washuk District, Balochistan. Authorities stated that the deceased were affiliated with what they described as “Fitna al-Hindustan,” a term used by Pakistani authorities for individuals or groups they claim are backed by India. However, no names or identifying information about the individuals have been publicly disclosed.
- On 6 August 2026, security forces reportedly killed six other unidentified individuals during an alleged encounter in Mastung District, Balochistan. Authorities said the operation involved an exchange of fire and the destruction of a militant hideout. The identities of those killed were not disclosed.
- On 12 August 2026, a VBIED reportedly detonated prematurely while being prepared in Surab District, killing eight unidentified alleged militants and three civilians, according to state authorities. Security forces subsequently claimed to have killed 10 additional unidentified alleged militants during a clearance operation.
- On 21 August 2026, security forces reportedly killed 37 unidentified alleged militants in 10 intelligence-based operations across Mastung, Mach, Khuzdar, and Panjgur districts. Authorities said weapons, explosives, and remote-detonation equipment were recovered.
- During the night of 31 August–1 September 2026, security forces reportedly killed 21 unidentified individuals in separate incidents in Chagai and Pishin districts. Authorities described the deceased as members of what they called “Fitna al-Hindustan” and “Fitna al-Khawarij.
Killings by Baloch Separatists
- On 26 August, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) claimed responsibility for killing two alleged death-squad operatives, identified as Muhammad, son of Noor Muhammad, and his son Zafar, son of Muhammad, both residents of Waja-e-Bagh, Jhao. According to the BLF, the two were killed after encountering its fighters while attempting to flee.
BLA fighters killed in encounters with security forces
According to statements issued by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), at least 19 of its fighters were reportedly killed in separate encounters with security forces during August 2026.
- On 7 August, Maulvi Imran and Maulana Munir Ahmed were reportedly killed in Washuk, followed by Abu Bakr Nichari in Sohnda, Zehri on 11 August, and Mushtaq Mengal in Basima on 16 August. On 18 August, the BLA reported the deaths of Inayatullah Bangulzai and Muhammad Sharif Notwani in Hajika, Surab, followed by Ali Haider Muhammad Shahi in Mastung on 22 August. On 30 August, the group reported that Zahoor Ahmed Lango was killed in Jori, Surab, while Dr. Lal Khan was killed in Washuk.
- On 31 August, the BLA stated 10 of its fighters were killed during clashes in the Nokchah area of Chagai. The deceased were identified as Zahir Mengal, Ijaz Ahmed Mengal, Ali Nawaz Mengal, Muhammad Shakir Shahwani, Noor Ahmed Notezai, Mir Ali Musa Zai, Uzair Ahmed Mandai, Naseer Ahmed Muhammad Hasni, Lal Muhammad Hasni, and Yasir.
Honor Killings
Two incidents of alleged honour killings were reported in Balochistan during the month.
- On 9 August, in Eri village, Kacchi-Bolan, Naseerabad District, a man allegedly killed his 60-year-old mother by hanging her and also shot dead another 60-year-old man in the name of honour.
- On 20 August, armed men allegedly shot dead a man and a woman in Mohalla Yaqoob, Usta Muhammad Town. Police described the double murder as an alleged honour killing and identified the male victim as Muhammad Amin Jamali.
Other Incidents
Demolition of Residential Houses in Panwan, Gwadar
Several houses belonging to members of the Kalmati family were reportedly demolished during a military operation in Panwan, Jiwani, Gwadar. The operation was allegedly carried out by security forces using heavy machinery. The affected families reportedly included Noor Bakhsh, Mian, Riaz, Tariq, Farooq, Salman, and Amir Bakhsh Kalmati Ibrahim.
Two Previously Disappeared Men Reportedly Shifted to Jail
On 22 August, Ghani Baloch, a leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP), and Sana Baloch were reportedly shifted to jail after more than a year in enforced disappearance. Ghani Baloch had been disappeared on 25 May 2025 in Khuzdar, while Sana Baloch had been disappeared on 10 August 2025 after being detained at Multan Airport. Their transfer to jail reportedly marked the first known indication of their whereabouts since their disappearances.
