On June 01, 2021, some gunmen broke into the house of Bahadur Ali Kiazai in Quetta and whisked him away. He was taken in front of his family. According to the family, the abductors introduced themselves as personnel of Pakistan’s intelligence agencies, who didn’t explain why they needed to pick him up this way.
Two members of the Kiazai family were abducted in the past and are still missing. M. Hussain Kiazai was abducted in 2008 and M. Salim Kiazai in 2016. No one has heard of them since then.
Such abductions may result into years of the victims’ disappearance and/or his death. The police and the courts in Pakistan have always refused to take any action against the abductors.
Kiazai’s family and dozens of relatives blocked the Quetta Bypass Road and demand he be released. The protest continued till the fifth day of incident, joined by many traumatized family members of other missing persons in the region, as well as human rights activists. A delegation of the Balochistan government met the family on June 5 and promised immediate and safe release of the victim.
The Human Rights Council of Balochistan strongly condemns the abduction and forcible disappearance of Bahadur and asks the authorities to release him immediately or produce him before a court of law, if he is charged of any wrongdoing.
