Balochistan: Seven go missing in two days

Military aggression in Balochistan continues to escalate, with enforced disappearances occuring at an alarming rate. In just two days, seven individuals have vanished without a trace. For nearly a week, Pakistani military operations in Dera Bugti have involved aerial bombardments of civilian areas.

Since October 6, a military operation has been ongoing in Dera Bugti. During this operation, helicopters from Pakistani forces shelled the villages of Lanju and Seghari in Sui, injuring eight civilians, including three women and five children.

On October 9, 2024, Pakistani forces abducted and disappeared two residents of Hub: Junaid Hameed and Imran Baloch. This abduction took place at a hotel near Bhawani Shah Pump.

On the same day, at around 11 AM, Muslim Akhtar Sumalani was abducted by Pakistani security forces at the Kodask FC checkpoint in Khuzdar.

The following day, October 10, 2024, at approximately 2:00 am, Pakistani security forces, FC and CTD, forcibly disappeared two cousins from Turbat Askani: Wafa Manzoor and Muheem Jan. Wafa, a tailor from a poor family, and Muheem, a biochemistry student at the University of Turbat, were both affected by this raid.

Simultaneously, in Punjab, police and Pakistani intelligence agencies, operating in plain clothes, detained and abducted three Baloch students from Punjab University. The abducted students were Shamreez Baloch son of Master Fareed, a law student at Superior University in Lahore; Dedag Baloch son of Younis Baloch, a student of economics at the University of Lahore; and Ikram Mengal, who was later released. All were residents of Nushki.

HRCB

Human Rights Council of Balochistan (Hakkpaan) is a non-profit and non-partisan human rights group based in Balochistan and Sweden. It collects reports from Balochistan, a region Pakistan government does not allow any media and HR group to visit and report. Human rights violations in Balochistan is not a new phenomenon, but it got its worst levels after the Military coup de tat of Pakistan in 1999. Thousands of Baloch have been reported missing, hundreds killed in fake encounters and so-called kill and dump policy of the military. HRCB collects the data from Balochistan itself, through its network of volunteers and supporters, organizes and reports them to the human rights mechanisms of the world.
