Balochistan: 113 Disappearances and 31 Killings Reported in October 2025
In October 2025, Balochistan recorded 113 new cases of enforced disappearance alongside 31 killings. The month’s fatalities included 12 formerly disappeared individuals, 4 people abducted during October, and 9 who had vanished in earlier months. Of all those taken, only 19 reappeared, while the majority continue to remain missing.
Enforced disappearances
During the month, the total enforced disappearances included four cases that had gone unreported from previous months. Among the victims, two were abducted for the second time and one for the third. Fourteen teenagers were also among those disappeared, with four released and three still missing.
Modes of Abduction:
Out of the total abductions, ninety-three took place during house raids. Eighteen individuals were taken away from streets and shops, and two were called to military camps before disappearing.
Perpetrators:
The Frontier Corps (FC) was involved in 64 cases, while the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and intelligence agencies were each responsible for 19 cases. State-backed death squads carried out 9 cases, and rangers were linked to 2 cases.
Professions of victims:
Among the victims, 31 were students. The remaining included 7 shopkeepers, 6 laborers, 5 drivers, and 2 police constables. Single cases involved an office assistant in Dubai, a farmer, a levies personnel member, a union leader (GTA President), a merchant, a municipal committee worker, and a barber. The professions of the remaining 55 victims could not be confirmed.
Geographical distribution:
The largest number of enforced disappearances were reported in Panjgur (22), Kech (20), and Quetta (19), followed by Khuzdar (12) and Dera Bugti (11). Smaller numbers were noted in Awaran (7), Kharan (7), and Mastung (5), while isolated cases were documented in Karachi (3), Washuk (2), Gwadar (2), and one each in DG Khan, Surab, and Hub.
Cases:
October 01
- Mehran Ashraf, 18, son of Ashraf and a student from Apsor, Turbat, Kech, was forcibly disappeared from Gulshan e Iqbal, Karachi, by CTD personnel.
- Rehmatullah Miraji, son of Haji Khan Miraji, a resident of Reshik Zehri, was reportedly subjected to enforced disappearance by FC.
October 02
- Mumtaz, 26, son of Saleh and a resident of Dasht Kashaap, Kech, was forcibly disappeared from Gulshinabad, Turbat, by FC personnel.
October 04
- Irshad Ahmed Sumalani, Tanveer Ahmed Sumalani, and Zaheer Ahmed Sumalani, sons of Aziz Ahmed Sumalani, were detained from Baloch Colony, Gent Road, Quetta, by FC personnel, and later the same day their brother, Nazir Ahmed Sumalani, was also taken into custody from Shahrag Kili Mengalabad by the same personnel.
- Abdul Gaffar, son of Abdul Hameed and a resident of Nasirabad in Kech district, was forcibly disappeared from a nearby picnic site by FC personnel.
October 05
- A curfew was imposed in Zehri, Khuzdar district, and all entry and exit routes were sealed as FC personnel continued an operation across Nurgama city and instructed residents to remain indoors, and during house raids Safia Bibi, Zahid son of Aziz, and Asif Baloch were detained and taken to an unknown location.
- Asad Ullah, 28, son of Rasool Bakhsh and a shopkeeper residing in Norgamma Zheri, Khuzdar, was forcibly disappeared from his hometown by FC and MI personnel.
- Rahmat, 20, son of Muhammad Baksh and a student residing in Kushkalat, Turbat, Kech, was forcibly disappeared from Main Bazar, Turbat City, by CTD personnel.
- Hamid Baloch, son of Gwahram and a resident of Dando in the Kulanch area of Gwadar district, was subjected to enforced disappearance by a local armed group reportedly acting in coordination with FC personnel.
October 06
- Abdul Kareem, 17, son of Abdul Salam and a student, and Ishaq Shah, 17, son of Ibrahim Shah and a worker at the Municipal Committee, both residing in Kili Muhmmed Hassani Brewery, Quetta, were abducted from Pak Turk School, Spinny Road, Quetta, and were held in police custody at Kharot Abad Police Station for eight hours before being taken by ISI personnel.
- Jahangeer, 19, son of Abdul Ghani and a student residing in Main Bazar, Tump, Kech, was forcibly disappeared from his home by FC personnel.
October 08
- Khudad Baloch, 18, son of Muhammad Umer and a student residing in Mand, Kech, was forcibly disappeared from Zarrenbog Dasht, Kech, by FC personnel.
- Murad Jan, son of Abdullah, and Qambar, son of Khuda Bakhsh, residents of Sulo in Buleda, Kech, were subjected to enforced disappearance by FC personnel.
October 10
- Muhammad Hasil, 39, son of Khuda Bandag and a driver, and Abdul Sattar, 38, son of Murad Shah and an office assistant in Dubai, both residing in Sarinkan Tump, Kech, were forcibly disappeared from Raees Goth, Karachi, by Rangers personnel.
October 11
- Irfan, 22, son of Murad Ali and a student residing in Chitkan, Panjgur, was forcibly disappeared from his home by FC personnel and the Death Squad members.
- Farhan, 20, also a student and resident of Chitkan, Panjgur, was forcibly disappeared from Kalm Chowk in Chitkan by FC personnel.
- Abdul Nasir, son of Abdul Khaliq and a young labourer from Khadkocha, Mastung, was forcibly disappeared in the Kohang area of Kalat by FC personnel while on his way to offer prayers, and he was released on October 21.
- Manzoor, son of Muhammad, and Bilal, son of Allah Bakhsh, residents of Ashal Kolwah, Kech were forcibly disappeared during a house raid by FC personnel.
- Ubaid Ghulam, son of Ghulam Muhammad and a labourer, and Shafiq Ahmed, son of Rafiq Baloch and a student, residents of the Kuch area of Mashkay in Awaran district, were detained and subsequently subjected to enforced disappearance by FC personnel.
October 12
- Bilal Aziz, 24, son of Haji Abdul Aziz and Sher Jan, 24, son of Anwar, and Yahya, 20, son of Abdul Waheed and a student, all residents of Gokdan, Turbat, were forcibly disappeared by FC.
- Sajid Baloch, son of Abdul Ghani and originally from Kalatu Jhao in Awaran district, was detained from his home in the Daru Hotel area of Hub by state intelligence personnel and was subjected to enforced disappearance.
- Mohammad Ismail Zehri, a shopkeeper and resident of Kahn, Zehri, was subjected to enforced disappearance by FC personnel, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
October 13
- Janzaib Baloch, 20, son of Ali, a resident of Soorag Niyam Patak Essai, Panjgur, was forcibly disappeared from his home by a Death Squad.
October 14
- Sakim, 20, son of Ali Jan and residing in Sande Sar Essai, Panjgur, was forcibly disappeared from 3 Chowk near Madrisa Daarol Huloom, Sande Sar, Panjgur, by members of the Death Squad.
- Abdul Qadir and his son Amjid were taken away from their house in the Isa Tanap area of Panjgur by FC personnel.
October 16
- Asad Baloch, 26, son of Shams Uddin and a student residing in Quetta, was forcibly disappeared from Hudda, Quetta, by CTD and MI personnel.
- Ubaid Baloch, 17, son of Bayan Baloch and a student residing in Singabad, Turbat, Kech, was forcibly disappeared from Mashalla Plaza, A One City, Brewery Road, Quetta, by CTD personnel.
- Ayaz, son of Dost Mohammad, and Imdad, son of Khuda Bakhsh, residents of Geshkor Sundom in Awaran, were subjected to enforced disappearance after being summoned to a Pakistan Army camp.
October 17
- Asim, 18, son of Nawaz and a student residing in Katagari, Panjgur, was forcibly disappeared in Bonistan, Panjgur, by MI and the Death Squad.
- Wahab Baloch, 17, son of Aziz Baloch and an FSc student residing in Sar Dasht, Pasni, Gwadar, and Nazeer Baloch, 21, son of Shah Muhammad and a BS Nursing student residing in Splinji, Mastung, were forcibly disappeared from Essa Nagri, Brewery Road, Quetta, by CTD and MI personnel, and both were later released.
- Abdullah, son of Baheyan and a tenth grade student from Sari Karki Tejaban, Kech, was detained from his room in Quetta by FC personnel, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
October 18
- Faqir Jan, son of Ghulam Jan Shambezai from the Guwash area, was abducted by a state backed death squad operating in a luxury car, and his body was later dumped at the same location.
- Hamid, 35, son of Haji Zafar and a shopkeeper residing in Gramkan, Panjgur, was forcibly disappeared from his home by FC personnel.
- Liaquat, son of Muhammad Sharif, and Aqeel, son of Ghaus Bakhsh, residents of Kili Karak, and Irfan, a resident of Parangabad, were detained and subjected to enforced disappearance during a raid in the Kili Karak area of Mastung by FC personnel.
- Zaheer, Hasil, Ehsan, Siraj, Saeedullah, and one another person, who could not be identified, were detained and then subjected to enforced disappearance during an FC raid in Bonistan Chungi Sar, Panjgur.
- Manan Qadir, son of Abdul Qadir Mirzai, and several other relatives of Rashid Hussain, who has been missing since 2018, were detained during a raid near Ghazan by FC personnel, during which houses were fired upon and women and children were mistreated. Most detainees were released, but Manan Qadir remains disappeared.
- Aseel Baloch, son of Abdul Qadeer Mullazai and a barber residing in the Nag area of Washuk district, was detained by a state backed death squad at a football ground and subjected to enforced disappearance.
October 19
- Hameed Ullah, 15, son of Ghulam Dastgeer, Jahangir, 22, son of Muhammad Raheem, Bawal Khan, 15, son of Nazeer Ahmed, Ahmed Shah, 19, son of Syed Kashmir Shah, and Nimat Ullah, 22, son of Abdul Khaliq and a resident of Killi Durazai, Kharan, all students, were forcibly disappeared from Killi Miskan Kalat, Kharan, by FC personnel.
- Basheer Ahmed Kubdani, 35, son of Haji Muhammad Hussain and a Levies Force personnel residing in Kubdani Mahallah, Kharan, was forcibly disappeared from the same locality by CTD personnel.
- Adnan Baloch, 27, son of Abdul Qudoos and a shopkeeper residing in Killi Kark, Mastung, was forcibly disappeared from his shop in Mastung Bazar by CTD and FC personnel, and this marked his second disappearance after a previous abduction in September 2024.
- Farzad Azeem, 20, son of Haji Azeem and a driver residing in Garibabad, Tasp, Panjgur, was forcibly disappeared from his home by FC personnel.
October 20
- Zahoor, son of Arz Mohammad and a resident of the Jain area of Paroom, was abducted by FC personnel and a state backed death squad, and his body was later found dumped in the Daz Gumazi area of Paroom.
- Parvaz, 17, son of Safar and a student residing in Askani Bazar, Turbat, was forcibly disappeared from his home by CTD personnel.
October 21
- Balach, 16, son of Dilwash and a student residing in Balochi Bazar, Absar, Turbat, was forcibly disappeared from his home by CTD personnel.
October 22
- Ghous Bakhsh Bugti, president of GTA Dera Bugti, was abducted from Tehsil Bazar in Sui by FC personnel. This was his third enforced disappearance, following a year long detention with torture in 2012 and another disappearance on January 27, 2024.
- Najeebullah, son of Duran Jatoi and a resident of the Eastern Bypass Link Road area of Quetta, was forcibly disappeared after FC personnel raided his home at night and detained him.
- Sajjad Baloch, 17, son of Qadir Bakhsh and a shopkeeper, was reportedly abducted from in front of Johnam Tailor in Panjgur by members of a state backed death squad.
October 23
- Hamood Baloch, 16, son of Muhammad Jan, a student, Haroon Baloch, 19, son of Muhammad Jan, a driver, and Fahad Baloch, 22, son of Haji Usman, a driver, were abducted from Balochabad, Mand, and were forcibly disappeared by FC and intelligence agencies.
- Shozab Saleem, son of Haji Saleem Buzdar, a resident of Model Town, Dera Ghazi Khan and a seventh semester BS Civil Engineering student at Fast University Lahore, was forcibly disappeared on his way to the university by intelligence agencies.
- Lakarim, son of Munshi Bugti, Ehsan, son of Sharif Bugti, Ibrahim, son of Rustam Bugti, Mandha Bugti, son of Attal Bugti, and his nephew, Noor Deen, son of the late Zuno Bugti, were taken away during raids in Bugra Colony and Bugti Colony of Sui in Dera Bugti by FC.
October 24
- Noorzaib, 20, son of Abdul Sattar, a student residing in Gramkan, Panjgur, was forcibly disappeared by CTD from Sirki Kallan, Quetta.
- Razai, son of Guzo, a resident of Ashal, Kolwah in district Awaran, was forcibly disappeared by FC.
- Yousuf, son of Sher Muhammad Bugti, who worked at a tea house in Tehsil Bazaar, Sui, was forcibly disappeared by CTD officials.
October 25
- Shameem Baloch, 22, son of Ghafor Baloch and a labourer, was abducted from Niyad e Sar in Pasni and was forcibly disappeared by intelligence agencies. He is a resident of Ward No. 6, Pasni.
- Malhar, son of Kashmir Bugti, was detained from Tehsil Bazaar in Sui, Dera Bugti, and was subsequently subjected to enforced disappearance by CTD personnel.
- Jan Muhammad, son of Dadan Bugti, and Imam Dad, son of Karman Bugti, were taken during a CTD raid on the home of contractor Juma Khan Bugti in Darihan Colony, Sui, after a dispute involving extortion demands by CTD SHO Umar Khosa. Both victims were forcibly disappeared and were later released on November 3 after the demanded amount was paid.
October 28
- Abdul Khaliq, son of Ameer Bakhsh, a resident of Dashti Bazar in Kech, and a former Frontier Corps employee, was forcibly disappeared. On October 31, his tortured and bullet riddled body was recovered from the Kech River, bearing multiple gunshot wounds and clear signs of severe torture.
- Jahanzaib, 19, son of Izatullah, and Bezan, 17, son of Inayatullah, both residents of Nag, Washok, were abducted from Killi Ibrahimzai and were forcibly disappeared by CTD and intelligence agencies.
- Burhanuddin, 19, son of Muhammad Naeem, a Zam yad driver was abducted from his home town Bugh Meeri, Kech, by intelligence agencies.
October 29
- Hamza Baloch, son of Noor Jaan and a labourer from Sourgar Oranch in Khuzdar district, was forcibly disappeared by a state backed death squad and was handed over to the army. After five days of illegal detention, his bullet riddled body was recovered on November 3 in the Jootar Koor Korak area of Jhao in Awaran district.
- Momin, 15, son of Bahad, and Haris Baloch, son of Haji Babu, both students and residents of Konshkalath Tump, were whisked away during a raid by FC and intelligence agencies.
- Abdul Sattar, 35, son of Jan Muhammad, a merchant residing near Sardari Dahl Naal in Khuzdar, was abducted by members of death squads from Main Bazar Naal in Khuzdar.
- Hamza, 19, son of Muhammad Alim, a shopkeeper, Shah Hussain, 26, son of Shafi Jan, a police constable, and Zameer Ahmed, 34, son of Noor Ahmed, also a police constable, all residents of Tasp, Panjgur, were abducted from Chitkan, Panjgur, by FC and were forcibly disappeared. All three were later released on November 3.
- Nadeem, son of Azad Khan Jatoi, a resident of the Eastern Bypass Link Road area of Quetta, was forcibly disappeared after a night raid was conducted on his home by FC.
October 30
- Farooq, son of Syed Mohammad, and Abdullah, son of Rashid, both under the age of 15 and residents of Pullabad, Tehsil Tump, were subjected to enforced disappearance during a raid by FC.
- Muhammad Arif, 22, a farmer from Killi Sanjrani Dernali Naal in Khuzdar and son of Zakir Ismail who has remained missing since his enforced disappearance in 2013, was abducted from Basima, Washuk, and was forcibly disappeared by intelligence agencies and death squad members.
- Waheed Ahmed, 25, son of Hazoor Baksh, a shopkeeper residing in Sher Ali Gidar, Surab, was abducted from Gidar Bazar, Surab, by FC.
Undocumented Cases from Previous Months:
- September 22: Jahanzaib Nosherwani, 20, son of Mir Asghar and a student residing in Kharan, was forcibly disappeared from A1 City, Quetta, by CTD and intelligence agencies.
- August 12: Ikram, 20, son of Sana Ullah and a student, was abducted from Jhuzan, Kharan, by CTD. He is a resident of the same area.
- August 24: Huzaifa Buzdar, son of Zulfiqar Buzdar, and Rehan Buzdar, son of Naseeruddin Buzdar, were detained and forcibly disappeared by FC from the Sabzal Road area of Quetta.
Killings
In October, 31 people were killed across Balochistan, including 29 men and 2 women.
Patterns of Killing:
Drone strikes accounted for 10 of these cases, while 9 individuals died in custody. Targeted attacks resulted in 5 deaths, and 3 people were killed in incidents described as fake encounters. Two victims succumbed to earlier injuries, and there was one case of honor killing along with one instance where a body was discovered.
Perpetrators:
During the month, 31 cases were recorded, with the FC responsible for 15 incidents, followed by Death Squad groups with 7. Unidentified perpetrators accounted for 4 cases, while the CTD was linked to 3. The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) was associated with 2 incidents.
Geographical Distribution:
Khuzdar and Kech each reported 10 incidents, making them the most affected locations, followed by Panjgur with 4 and Dera Bugti with 3. Uthal, Washuk, Naseerabad, and Barkhan recorded one incident each.
Detailed Classification of Incidents:
Extrajudicial Killing of Victims of Enforced Disappearance:
- Janzaib Roshin, 20, a labourer and resident of Babber Shor, Pasni, Gwadar was abducted from his home by FC on 28 September. His mutilated body was recovered on October 1, dumped on a roadside in Uthal, district Lasbela.
- Nizar Baloch, 20, a labourer from Paroom, was abducted on 30 September from Alandhoor Buleda by a death squad. His body, bearing signs of torture, was recovered on October 1 in the Sorap Dam area of Buleda.
- Naik Sal, son of Dilwash, and Quddus Baloch, son of Umid, both drivers and residents of Gardank, Buleda, were abducted by FC. Their mutilated bodies were recovered on October 1 from the Sorap Dam area of Buleda.
- Muhammad Nawaz, son of Shahsawar Khan, whose detention by Pakistani forces from the Rakni Barkhan area was reported on September 10, was found dead on October 3. His bullet riddled body was recovered from Barkhan district.
- Muhammad Azam, 38, son of Abdul Rehman, a shopkeeper from Patak Qadirabad, Basima, district Washuk was forcibly disappeared by FC from his shop on September 11. His dead body was recovered on October 6 from the Gowargi Nag area of Washuk.
- Jameel, son of Khawand Bakhsh Bugti, abducted on March 21, 2025, and Pir Jan, son of Karman Bugti, abducted on March 19, 2025, were killed in Usta Mohammad on October 17 in a staged encounter by CTD. Both victims were taken from their homes in Nawab Bazaar, Dera Bugti. The third victim was identified as Hazir Bugti, a resident of Naseerabad, whose date of abduction could not be verified.
- Faqir Jan, son of Ghulam Jan Shambezai, was abducted on the night of October 18 by operatives of death squads from the Guwash area. His body was dumped at the same location on October 20.
- Zahoor, son of Arz Mohammad, was abducted on October 20 by Pakistani forces and death squad operatives from the Jain area of Paroom. His body was found dumped later that morning in the Daz Gumazi area of Paroom.
- On October 28, Abdul Khaliq, son of Ameer Bakhsh, a resident of Dashti Bazar in Kech, and a former Frontier Corps employee, was forcibly disappeared. On October 31, his tortured and bullet riddled body was recovered from the Kech River, bearing multiple gunshot wounds and clear signs of severe torture.
Ten Killed in Zehri Airstrikes:
- On October 1, a drone strike in Noorgama, Zehri, killed four civilians who were seated near cotton fields.
- Between October 2 and 5, a series of military assaults, including drone strikes, artillery shelling, and gunship helicopter fire, claimed six more lives and left three injured in the Moola Pass area. Those killed included Manzoor Ahmed, son of Abdul Hakim, his two children, a nephew, Bibi Rahima, and one of her children. The injured were identified as Bibi Rahima’s daughter and son, along with another relative.
Targeted Killings by State-Backed Death Squads:
- October 1:Hashim Abdul Qadir, a child shot and critically wounded by a state-backed death squad in Buleda’s Minaz market on September 15, died from his injuries despite attempts to obtain treatment in Karachi.
- October 30:Najeeb Ullah, 31, son of Lal Bakhsh and a resident of Meri Kallag, Kech, was gunned down near Meri Link Road by assailants identified as members of a state-backed death squad. He was employed as a Naib Qasid at a government school.
Targeted Killings by Separatist Groups:
- On October 25, armed men shot and killed Akram Murad Zamurani and Shay Mureed in Singanisar, Turbat. The BLF later claimed the attack, accusing both men of working as informants for Pakistani forces.
Targeted Killings by Unknown Armed Men:
- On October 19, unknown assailants shot and killed Waleed Saleh Baloch near his residence in Panjgur before fleeing the scene. His body was later transported to the District Headquarters Hospital, Panjgur.
- A week later, on October 30, another attack was carried out in the Minaz area of Buleda, Kech, where unknown gunmen shot and killed Ali, son of Saeed, and escaped immediately after the incident.
Discovered Dead Bodies:
- On October 8 in Buleda, the body of Zohaib, son of Nogarzeb Khan, was found in the Nawano Zamran area of Kech with visible bullet wounds. A slip bearing his name and address was recovered from his pocket. Authorities moved the body to a nearby hospital, but the circumstances and motive behind the killing remain unknown.
Honor Killings:
- In Kohlu, Abdul Ghani, son of Rehman of the Powadi Marri tribe, was killed in the Sonri area in a case reportedly motivated by so-called “honor.”
Other Incidents
Inclusion of Baloch Activists in the Fourth Schedule Under the Anti Terrorism Act:
The Home Department of Balochistan included Dr. Shali Baloch, central organizer of the Baloch Women Forum, and Nazgul and Syed Bibi Sharif of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee in the Fourth Schedule under Section 11 EE of the Anti Terrorism Act, 1997.
Death of Sick Girl During Prolonged Bus Inspection by Pakistani Forces in Uthal:
A sick girl died after being denied medical attention during a prolonged inspection of a passenger bus by Pakistani forces in Uthal, which continued through the night and left passengers stranded for hours.
Arrest of Mir Yousuf Ali Qalandrani After Forced Disappearance:
Mir Yousuf Ali Qalandrani, who had been forcibly disappeared from Karachi on August 17 by Pakistani forces and intelligence agencies, resurfaced after reportedly being arrested under the 3MPO and shifted to Central Jail Khuzdar.
Abduction and Release of Qazi Muhammad Jan Baloch After Court Building Attack:
Qazi Muhammad Jan Baloch, a Judge and a resident of Turbat was abducted after armed men surrounded a court building in Kharan district and set it on fire. He was released after two days.
