Balochistan: 138 Forcibly Disappeared, 72 Killed in May 2025

In May 2025, a total of 138 cases of enforced disappearance were recorded, of which 137 were male and 1 was female. Among the 138 documented cases, 97 individuals are still missing, 29 have been released, and 12 were subjected to extrajudicial killings. A total of 72 individuals were killed, including 66 males and 6 females. Most of these killings were reportedly carried out by Pakistani security forces, highlighting the ongoing pattern of state-sponsored violence in Balochistan.

 

Enforced Disappearances:

Out of 138 cases, 134 individuals were abducted for the first time, while 5 experienced a second abduction. Thirteen minors were among the 138 abducted individuals documented in the reported cases for May 2025.

 

Mode of abduction:

Of the 138 enforced disappearance cases recorded, 88 occurred during house raids, 40 individuals were detained from public places such as streets, bazaars, or shops, 5 were taken from check posts, and 5 were summoned to camps before disappearing.

 

Perpetrators:

Of the 138 cases, 69 were perpetrated by the Frontier Corps (FC), 35 by intelligence agencies, 33 by the Police Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), and 1 by the Coast Guard.

 

Profession:

Among the 138 individuals, the professions of 44 individuals remain unknown, 32 are students, 21 laborers, 12 drivers, 8 are shopkeepers, 4 fishermen, 4 police constables, 4 farmers, 2 businessmen, 2 landlords, 2 government employees, and 1 each of an advocate, a car racer, and a barber.

 

Place of Abduction:

The 138 abduction cases were reported across various locations, with Gwadar recording the highest number at 34, followed by Kech with 22. Panjgur, Quetta, and Karachi each reported 11 cases. Mastung accounted for 9 cases, Awaran 8, Nushki and Kalat 6 each, Chagai and Dera Bugti 4 each, Khuzdar and Musakhel 3 each, Barkhan and Lasebela 2 each, and Washuk and Sibi 1 each.

 

May 01:

  • Sameer Ahmed, a 25-year-old Zamyad driver from Tasp, Panjgur, and son of Sabzal Ali, was forcibly taken around 5:30 PM in Panchi Tahna by personnel of the Military Intelligence (MI). On May 9, Sameer’s bullet-riddled body, bearing clear signs of torture, was discovered in Bali Soorap, Panjgur.
  • Adnan Baloch, a 20-year-old F. Sc student and son of Haider, residing in Kulanchi Muhala, Ward No. 1, Pasni, was abducted by MI on 1 May 2025 at 7:00 PM from Bangla Bazar, Ward No. 1, Pasni.
  • Shay Mureed, a 22-year-old fisherman, was abducted at 1:00 PM from a barber shop in Main Bazar, Pasni by death Squads. However, He was later released on June 04.
  • Sameer Sudheer, a 16-year-old student and son of Sudheer, residing in Ward No. 1, Pasni, was abducted by Military Intelligence (MI) on the evening of from Zero Point, Pasni.

May 02:

  • Pakistani forces raided the Tijaban area of Kech district, detained Muhammad Shafi, son of Lahdad, and forcibly disappeared. On the same day, forces also raided the area and abducted Daulat, son of Badal Baloch. Their whereabouts remain unknown. Daulat has been released on May 20, while Muhammad Shafi is still missing.

May 03:

  • Inzamam, son of Muhammad Hassan and a resident of the Nasirabad area in Kech district, was taken during a raid on his home. Inzamam Hassan is a law student at Turbat University. He was later released on June 03.

May 05:

  • Abdul Lateef, a 58-year-old government employee and son of Muhammad Essa, was abducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) from his home in Dannuk, Turbat, Kech, at around 2:00 AM. He was later released on
  • six laborers—Nazeer Ahmed (son of Rehmat Ullah, age 35), Liaqat Ali (son of Muhammad Anwer Shawani, age 22), Hikmat Ullah (son of Aziz Ullah Shawani, age 30), Wazeer Ahmed (son of Rehmat Ullah, age 28), Mumtaz Ali (son of Muhammad Ismail Shawani, age 26), and Iqbal (son of Ghulam Rasool Shawani, age 21)—were abducted by FC and MI from Kuntani, Gwadar around 4:00 PM. All are residents of Dhal Chanal Naal and work as laborers.

 

May 06:

  • Sartaj, a 30-year-old fisherman and son of Saleh Muhammad, was abducted by Military Intelligence (MI) from his shop in Reikpusht, Ward No. 7, Pasni, at around 3:00 PM. He was released the next day. Sartaj and his brother Murad Bakhsh Saleh were forcibly disappeared previously on July 28, 2015. Sartaj was later released then however, Murad Bakhsh remains missing to date.

May 07:

  • Ahmed Khan, 21 years old, son of Haji Muhammad Umar, a driver residing in Kalli Chotu Mastung, was abducted from his home in Killi Chotu Mastung at 2:00 AM by Police CTD.
  • Rasool Baksh, 42 years old, son of Taj Muhammad, a shopkeeper residing in Ambi Kulanch, Gwadar, was abducted from his shop in Ambi Kulanch, Gwadar, at 3:00 PM by MI and FC.
  • Majid Ali, 21 years old, son of Dildar Baloch, and Naseer Ahmed, 24 years old, son of Rodain Baloch, both drivers from Shadikoor, Pasni, were abducted at 6:00 PM from Pasni Zero Point by MI.
  • Pakistani forces raided a house in the Kohad area of Tump, Kech, and forcibly disappeared Riaz Ahmed, son of Ibrahim Baloch. He was previously abducted in July 2020, later recovered, and has now disappeared again.

May 09:

  • Imtiaz Khayal, 28 years old, son of Jan Muhammad, a shopkeeper residing in Kalatuk district Kech, and Kamran Imam, 32 years old, son of Imam Baksh, also from Kalatuk district Kech, were both abducted from their homes in Kalatuk district  Kech at 2:00 AM by Police CTD.  Both were released on 28 May.
  • 14-year-old Fida Hussin, son of Saleem and a student, was forcibly disappeared by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel from his home at around 5:00 AM in Tijaban. He was later released on June 03.
  • Nasrullah Buzdar and his father, Jamaluddin Buzdar, residents of Rara Sham, were forcibly disappeared from their home.

May 10:

  • Pakistani forces have forcibly disappeared Sadiq Khan, son of Abdul Sattar Khajak, from his shop in Sibi, and since then, no information has emerged about his whereabouts.

May 11:

  • Amjid Zadag, 35, son of Dil Murad and a Levies force constable, was forcibly disappeared by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel at around 2:00 AM. He was abducted from Civil Hospital, Gwadar. His whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Two laborers, Shah Husain, 22 years old, son of Master Baman Khan, and Zabid Ali, 24 years old, son of Mohammad Rafiq, residing in Kili Sardar Ali Ahmad, Chaghi, were abducted from their home in Chaghi, at 2:00 AM by Frontier Corps (FC).
  • Younus Baloch, 33 years old, son of Murad Muhammad Umar, a mechanic and shopkeeper residing in Tump, was abducted from his home in Tump at 3:30 AM by FC.
  • Pakistani forces abducted Rishu, son of Khan Muhammad Bugti, from his home in Dera Bugti. His whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Pakistani forces raided a house in Dera Bugti and abducted Dad Muhammad Bugti and his son, Rehzan Bugti. Their whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Tariq Baloch, son of Ibraheem Kalamati and a well-known car racer from Jewani, district Gwadar, was forcibly abducted from his guesthouse by Pakistani intelligence agency personnel in a white Toyota Corolla. By the early morning of May 12, his lifeless body was discovered dumped in the Palliri area of Jewani. This was not Tariq’s first encounter with enforced disappearance—he and his brother Salman had previously been abducted by the Police Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on February 22, 2023, and later released without charges.

 

May 12:

  • Chakar, 25, a shopkeeper, was forcibly disappeared by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel. He was abducted from Baloch Ward, Gwadar, at approximately 5:00 AM. His whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Maqsood Ahmed, a 23-year-old farmer from Kili Shay Salar, Chaghi, was abducted from his home at 3:00 AM by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel.
  • Shoaib Rafiq, 20 years old, son of Rafiq Baloch, and Hafeez Moosa, 18 years old, son of Moosa, both residents of TTC Colony Gwadar, were abducted from their homes at 1:00 AM by the Military Intelligence (MI). Shoaib is unemployed, while Hafeez is a student.
  • Shoaib Baloch, 27 years old, son of Deen Muhammad, a law student from Naseerabad, Balochistan, was abducted at 2:30 AM from Gulshan Iqbal, Karachi by Pakistani intelligence agency personnel.
  • Relatives of Tahir, son of Allah Bakhsh from Dasht Shollig, Kech, report that he has been missing from Gwadar. Tahir, who runs an oil business, was last seen taking his vehicle to a garage for repair. The Coast Guard initially informed the family that Tahir was in their custody and would be released. However, when they followed up later, the Coast Guard became evasive and stopped providing information.
  • Pakistani security forces and intelligence agencies abducted Abdul Wahid, son of Dur Mohammad, from Jinnah International Airport. A resident of Pirandar, Awaran, he was on his way to the UAE for a labor job.

May 13:

  • Merha Khan Marri, a 45-year-old laborer and son of Meeta Khan Marri, was forcibly abducted at around noon by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel from the Baghao area of Barkhan district.
  • Waqar Bahot, aged 25, son of Bahot, a student residing in Ward No. 1, Pasni, was abducted at 8:00 PM from the Main Bazar in Pasni by Military Intelligence (MI). He was later released on June 05.
  • Qadir Ahmed, 20 years old, son of Bahar Khan, a farmer from Kadkocha, Mastung, was abducted at 6:00 AM from Saryab Road near Barma Hotel in Quetta by the Police CTD.
  • Pakistani forces detained five people during a raid in the Garap area of Kalat and shifted them to an undisclosed location; three have been identified as Jamuddin, Attaullah, and Latif, while the identities of the remaining two are still unknown.
  • In Turbat’s Dashti Bazaar, two youths, Zareen Javed and Umar Iqbal, were abducted in the evening by personnel of a Pakistani intelligence agency using a white Surf vehicle. Family sources say they were taken from a mobile shop.

May 14:

  • Two teenage students, Feroz Baloch (16), son of Murad Hasil, and Shay Mureed (15), son of Advocate Munir, were forcibly abducted by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel from their homes in TTC Colony, Gwadar.
  • Balach, son of Ibrahim Sayad, a 25-year-old driver and resident of Kulanch, Kanday e Soul, district Gwadar, was forcibly abducted by Military Intelligence (MI) personnel from Main Bazar, Pasni, at around 5:00 PM.
  • Peer Dad, son of Hakeem, a 19-year-old student, and Sadiq Dad, son of Wajid Dad, a 40-year-old shopkeeper—both residents of Kolwah Bedrang—were abducted by the Frontier Corps (FC) in Sayadabad Balgetar while traveling to Kolwah from Balgetar.

May 15:

  • Bilawal Baloch, 24, son of Shabaz Khan and a laborer, was forcibly abducted from his home in Killi Sakshi Peer Muhammad, Chaghi, at around 4:30 AM. The abduction was carried out by personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC), without presenting any warrant or explanation.
  • Bashir Marri was taken into custody by intelligence agencies from his home in Hazarganji and has been forcibly disappeared since then.

May 16:

  • According to sources, Shahnawaz, son of Barfi, was summoned to a military camp in Mashkay, an area of district Awaran, along with his father and several others. While the others were released, Shahnawaz was taken into custody and has not been seen or heard from since.
  • Manzoor Ahmed and Zahoor Ahmed, both sons of Azizullah Mengal and residents of Nushki district, were detained by Pakistani forces from the Qadirabad area in Nushki. Their whereabouts remain unknown.

May 17:

  • Younus Rasool, son of Rasool Bakhsh and a resident of Malar Bangul Bazar, district Awaran, was forcibly disappeared in a midnight raid by Pakistani military forces. During the operation, his family members were tortured, harassed, and threatened by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel and state-backed militias known locally as death squads. The other day, his mutilated body was found.
  • Three residents of Naseerabad — Niaz Ali (35), a landlord and son of Mehboob Ali; Ameenullah (27), also a landlord and son of Aman Ullah; and Fiaz Ali (13), a student and son of Niaz Ali — were forcibly abducted by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel during a raid in Shaikhri, Kalat. All three were taken together in the early morning, and their whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Muhammad Yahya, a resident of Killi Shahnawaz, Quetta, was arrested by CTD officials from his home and taken to an undisclosed location.
  • Ameer Bakhsh, a fisherman and son of Deen Muhammad, was summoned by the forces in Pasni, where he was unlawfully detained and later forcibly disappeared.

May 18:

  • Abdullah, a 14-year-old student and son of Abid Adeeb from Bal Nigwar Dasht, district Kech, was abducted by MI personnel in Gwadar. He was later released on 23 May.
  • Mehrullah, a 14-year-old laborer and son of Maqbool Ahmed from Tasp Bazar, district Panjgur, was abducted by FC personnel from his home at 2:00 AM. His whereabouts are currently unknown.
  • Naveed, a 28-year-old fisherman and son of Izzat from Jiwani, district Gwadar, was abducted by FC personnel from Jiwani.
  • Chief Attaullah, a lawyer and son of Saleh Muhammad Shad, was forcibly abducted by CTD personnel from his home in Killi Shadi Khan, Mastung, between 1:00 and 3:00 AM. During the raid, everyone in the house was subjected to violence. He was later released on June 22.
  • According to reports, Haider, son of Jago (Bakhlani) Bugti and an employee of PPL from Dera Bugti, was forcibly disappeared by Police CTD from the Bugti Colony area in Sui.
  • Pakistani forces in Mastung district abducted Waqas Baloch, organizer of the Baloch Students Organization (Pajjar) Mastung Zone, along with four others. The identities of three of those taken remain unconfirmed.
  • Atta ur Rehman, 23, son of Muhammad Akram, and Abdul Raheem, 18, son of Abdul Rauf—both farm laborers and residents of Bulghani, Kishangi, Nushki—were forcibly abducted from their home in Bulghani, Nushki at around 3:00 AM by personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC), Military Intelligence (MI), and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).
  • According to details, Musa Marri and Imran Marri were forcibly disappeared by CTD from their homes in New Kahan Marri Camp, Quetta. After 18 days in custody, they were killed in a staged encounter along with two others in Harnai on 6 June 2025.

May 19:

  • Naveed Jamaldini was abducted along with two friends from Killi Badal Karez Cross in Nushki at around 5:30 PM. The abduction was carried out by individuals in civilian clothes driving two small vehicles. All three were taken to Nushki Cant. While his two friends were released within three hours, Naveed’s remains forcibly disappeared, and there is still no information about his whereabouts.

May 20:

  • Suhail Ahmad, 25, son of Wahid Bakash, was forcibly disappeared by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel. A laborer, he was taken from his home at around 3:00 AM, in Dasht Dandar Mucheen Sool, district  Kech, and remains missing.
  • Meer Balach, a 26-year-old student and son of Abdul Lateef, was forcibly disappeared by CTD personnel between 6:00 and 8:00 PM from Jaam Goth Malir, Karachi. This marks the second time Meer Balach has disappeared; he was previously abducted in July 2024. His current whereabouts remain unknown.
  • During a raid in the Kolwah Gushang area of Awaran district, Sajid Nasir, son of Nasir Baloch, a Mistri (construction worker), was forcibly taken from his home by Pakistani forces along with a state-backed armed group. The following morning, his tortured body was recovered from Malar Cheel, bearing clear signs of abuse.

May 21:

  • Mohaibullah, 19, son of Muhammad Ali and a Zamyad driver, was forcibly disappeared at around 5:00 PM, by personnel of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). He was abducted from Jusak, Turbat, and is a resident of Sehr Musafar Bazar Gishkaur, Awaran. His whereabouts remain unknown.
  • CTD officials raided the house of Khurshid in Quetta’s Saryab area at around 2 AM and detained his minor son, Umair Lango. Umair, a 6th-grade student, was taken away.
  • During a raid in the Dhor area of Gwadar, Pakistani forces forcibly abducted Hamal, son of Shaukat. Family members reported that several valuables were stolen from the house during the raid.
  • Pakistani security forces illegally detained Abdul Salam, a fisherman from Ward No. 3 in Pasni and son of Karim Bakhsh, while he was heading to the sea.

 

May 22:

  • Majid Baloch, 23, son of Ghulam Mustafa, a student and President of the Baloch Students Organization (BSO) Khuzdar Zone, was forcibly disappeared by Military Intelligence (MI) personnel from Gazgi, Khuzdar. His whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Pakistani security forces detained Sher Jan Khetran from the Baghao area of Barkhan district. Six days later, on May 28, his family received his lifeless body under distressing and suspicious circumstances. The body showed clear signs of brutal torture, indicating he had been severely abused in custody.
  • According to reports from Karachi, Pakistani forces raided a school and detained 15-year-old Shayan Mir, a ninth-grade student, taking him into custody.

May 23:

  • During a raid in the Tobokad area of Jhao, Awaran district, at around 3 a.m., Pakistani forces entered homes and forcibly disappeared Hanif, son of Aziz. Later in the day, he was killed and his tortured body was dumped.
  • Sheraz, 28, and Sailan, 18, sons of Sabir and laborers by profession, were abducted around 3:30 AM by Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel from their home in Mauripur Takri village, Karachi. Their whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Raheem, 28, son of Fazal and a laborer, was forcibly disappeared by Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel from his home in Dilpullahabad, Mauripur, Karachi. His whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Aimal, 17, a student and son of Aurang Zaib, was forcibly disappeared by Intelligence agency personnel around 2:30 AM from his home, Massom Shah, Quetta. His whereabouts remain unknown.

May 24:

  • Muhammad Younus, 25, son of Ghulam Mustafa and a student, was forcibly disappeared by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel. He was abducted from his home in Besima, Washuk. His whereabouts remain unknown.  On May 29, 2025, at around 3:00 AM, his sister, Mahjabeen, 24, daughter of Ghulam Mustafa and a BS Library Science student at Balochistan University, was forcibly disappeared by personnel of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Military Intelligence (MI). She was abducted from the Quetta Civil Hospital hostel. Her whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Safi Ullah, son of Ghulam Nabi and a businessman, was forcibly disappeared by personnel of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). He was abducted from his home in Kadkocha, Mastung. His whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Abid Hussain, 25, son of Muhammad Zaman and a worker in a car showroom, was forcibly disappeared by personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC) and Police Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). He was abducted from his home in Kili Dato, Mastung. His whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Two brothers, Abdul Razzaq, 17, a student, and Muhammad Ishaq, 19, a driver—from Killi Mengalabad, Quetta—were forcibly disappeared around 2:00 AM by Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel.
  • Rameez Baloch, a 24-year-old driver and resident of Lal Bakhr Hawks Bay Karachi, was abducted from his home in Lal Bakhr Hawks Bay Karachi at 4:00 AM, by Rangers and CTD.
  • Pakistani security forces forcibly disappeared Imran Haider, son of Ghulam Haider, along with his brother Shah Dost, from their home in the Gibon area of Kech district.
  • According to reports, two youths, Shaukat Rehmat, a barber, and Gohar Bakhsh, a student, residents of the Riekepusht area in the coastal region of Pasni, have been detained and forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces.

May 25:

  • Zafarullah Sumalani, 26, son of Haji Gulam Nabi and a laborer by profession, was forcibly disappeared after being summoned to an FC camp in Khuzdar along with his two uncles. While his uncles were later released, Zafarullah remains missing. A resident of Kodasak, he had previously been abducted in October 2023 under similar circumstances at the same camp. This is the second time he has been targeted in this way.
  • Jeeyand, 20, son of Liaquat and a student, was forcibly disappeared around midnight by personnel of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Frontier Corps (FC) from Bugh Meeri, Kech. His whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Zakria Ismail, 26, son of Ismail Gulam and a student, was forcibly disappeared around 1:00 AM by personnel of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Military Intelligence (MI) from Hussain Hazara Goth, Karachi. A resident of Nasirabad, Turbat, Kech, his whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Pakistani forces detained and abducted Inayatullah, son of Abdullah, in the Tump Malikabad area of Kech district. Sources reported that two days prior to his abduction, his house had been attacked with hand grenades, allegedly by members of a government-backed armed group commonly known as the “Death Squad.
  • Abdul Ghani, a member of the Central Committee of the National Democratic Party (NDP), was forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces near Khuzdar while traveling from Quetta to Karachi. A native of Nushki, Ghani is a former Baloch Students Action Committee vice-chairman, an MPhil scholar specializing in the Brahui language, and a book publisher.
  • Ghous Bakhsh was summoned to a Pakistani military camp in Malar, where he was forcibly detained and disappeared. The following morning, May 26, his bullet-riddled body was found dumped in Malar.

May 26:

  • Changaiz Baloch, 30, son of Yaqoob Baloch and a laborer, was abducted around 2:00 AM by personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC) and Military Intelligence (MI) from his home in Dasht Rai Nigwar, Panjgur. His whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Pakistani forces detained five individuals from Parom in Panjgur district and transferred them to an unknown location. The detainees were identified as Israr, Jangiyan Rashid, Faisal Murad, Qadir, and Ghulam Jan. According to sources, four of them were later released, while Jangiyan, 18, son of Abdul Rasheed and a matric student, remains missing. His whereabouts are still unknown.
  • Samad Bakhtiar, son of Bakhtiar Baloch and a fisherman who suffers from asthma, was abducted from his home in Ward No. 1, Pasni, in the Gwadar district.
  • Waris Baloch, son of Abdul Ghafoor and a government employee in the Fisheries Department, was forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces from his residence in Faqeer Colony, Turbat, where he was temporarily staying. He is originally from the Jan Muhammad Bazaar area in Dasht.

May 27:

  • Ghulam Jan, son of Saleh Muhammad and a police constable, was forcibly disappeared by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel and other agencies. He was abducted from Turbat city. His whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Darman Baloch, son of Rahim Bakhsh and the primary breadwinner for his family, was summoned to a Frontier Corps (FC) camp in Awaran on May 27, 2025. He was released on May 29, but shortly afterward forcibly disappeared again on the same day. On the night of May 30, his mutilated body was found in the Kohro area of Awaran district.

May 28:

  • Hafiz Tariq, a 24-year-old rickshaw driver and son of Muhammad Arif, was forcibly disappeared by personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC) and Military Intelligence (MI). He was abducted from his home in Qaziabad, Nushki, at around 2:00 AM, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Wahab Baloch, a 41-year-old shopkeeper and resident of Chitkan, Panjgur, was abducted from his mobile shop in Chitkan Bazar, Panjgur, at 7:00 PM by the FC and Death Squad. In Chitkan’s main market, Panjgur, Pakistani forces raided a mobile shop, detaining Wahab Baloch and four others whose names remain unknown. Eyewitnesses say the personnel looted several high-value phones during the operation before transferring the detainees to an undisclosed location.
  • Two drivers, Abdul Wahid and Pullen Hassan, residents of Jhao, district Awaran, were abducted from Jahoo cross area of Bela in Lasbela.

May 29:

  • Nawab, 24, son of Abdullah and an FSC student, was forcibly disappeared by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel and a death squad. He was abducted from Chitkan, Panjgur, at around 4:00 AM. His whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Pakistani forces (FC) detained two youths from Padangabad, Mastung, Bismillah, son of Ghulam Sarwar, and Samiullah, son of Muhammad Hanif. Both were killed in custody, and their bodies were dumped on June 3, 2025, in the Ganda Gain area of Shekharhi, Kalat.
  • Sabzal, son of Munir and a resident of the Mirani Dam area, was forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces while working in Jiwani. A laborer by profession, he was involved in the oil trade at the time of his abduction.

May 30:

  • Bahram Wahid, a 15-year-old student and son of Abdul Wahid from Herronk, district Kech, was forcibly disappeared by Pakistani intelligence personnel in the Essa Nagri area of Quetta. Family members were beaten and harassed. He was later released on June 6.
  • Pakistani forces abducted two individuals from their homes in Malikabad, located in the Tump of Kech district. The victims were identified as Dileep Baloch, son of Rafiq Ahmed, and Bilal Ahmed, son of Baqi Baloch.
  • Adnan, son of Tahir, a 24-year-old police constable and resident of Singanisar, Turbat, was abducted from Main Bazar, Turbat at around 9:00 AM, while he was on his way to the market for routine shopping by personnel from Military Intelligence (MI).
  • Lal Muhammad Bugti, a 26-year-old laborer from Naseerabad, and Mawaar Han, a 27-year-old laborer from Singseelah, Dera Bugti, were abducted together from Anwar Marri Goth, Karachi, at 7:00 PM by the CTD.
  • In Quetta, Pakistani forces have detained two men from different areas of Shahrag and taken them to an undisclosed location. The victims have been identified as Gazzin, son of Shahnawaz Sumalani, and Rabnawaz, son of Ali Nawaz Sumalani. Their whereabouts remain unknown.
  • Pakistani forces abducted Muhammad, son of Nabi Bakhsh, from the Pasni area of Gwadar district.
  • Mulla Bakhsh, son of Allah Bakhsh and a fisherman, was detained and forcibly disappeared by security forces from the Kuntani area of Gwadar. His whereabouts remain unknown.

May 31:

  • Shehzad, a 14-year-old student and resident of Paroom Panjgur, was abducted from Jaeen Paroom, Panjgur, at 9:00 PM by the FC and Death Squad. His whereabouts remain unknown.

 

Enforced disappearance case from the previous month:

April 08:

  • On April 8, 2025, Jumma Buzdar, a 49-year-old laborer and resident of Kingri Musakhel, was abducted by CTD personnel from his home in Kingri Musakhel.

Military Operation in Sheikhri, Kalat Leaves Death, Destruction, and Displacement

  • During May 2025, Pakistani forces intensified operations in Sheikhri, Kalat, targeting civilians under the guise of security actions. At least three towns have witnessed violent raids, resulting in enforced disappearances and killings. Among the victims, Bakhtiar Ahmed Baloch was shot dead by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel after pleading for an end to house raids. His son and nephew were later abducted. Locals report the destruction of several homes, water sources, crops, and solar systems, forcing mass displacement with families fleeing empty-handed.

 

Rocket Attack on Civilian Home in Balicha Injures Three, Including Two Women

  • In Balicha, armed men launched a rocket attack on the residence of Jangiyan Baloch, seriously injuring three people, including two women. The use of heavy weaponry against a civilian home marks a serious violation of international human rights and humanitarian norms.

 

Secret Burial of Three Youths in Turbat Causes Family Distress

  • On May 16, the bodies of three youths killed in a clash with Pakistani forces in Turbat earlier this month were secretly buried at night by the police in the Education Chowk cemetery. Relatives say they were not allowed to attend the burial or perform last rites, and authorities have refused requests to exhume the bodies. Families claim they waited for three days with no cooperation from police, and allege the bodies were buried without shrouds or proper Islamic rites, causing them great distress.

Hand Grenade Attack Injures Family Members in Nasirabad, Kech District

  • On May 17, in Nasirabad, located 40 km from Turbat in Kech district, unidentified assailants on motorcycles threw a hand grenade into a house, injuring several residents, including women and children. The grenade exploded inside the premises, causing injuries to Meerul, son of Qasim, Ayesha, daughter of Shabbir, Fatima, daughter of Shabbir, and Shahzad, son of Shabbir—all residents of Nasirabad.

 

 

Killed:

Among the 72 killings, 18 victims remain unidentified and 66 were male victims, and 6 were female victims.

 

In May 2025, a total of 72 killings were reported with the following modes: target killings accounted for 22 cases, bodies were discovered in 11 cases, bomb attacks and fake encounters each resulted in 10 killings, custodial killings also accounted for 10 cases, indiscriminate firing caused 5 deaths, and encounters led to 4 deaths.

 

Among the 72 killings, perpetrators were unknown in 32 cases, while 20 were carried out by the Frontier Corps (FC), 7 by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), 7 by death squads, 3 by the Baloch Liberation Front (BLF), 2 by intelligence agencies, and 1 by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).

 

The 72 killings occurred across various locations, with Kech reporting the highest number at 17, followed by Khuzdar with 11 and Awaran with 10. Panjgur recorded 6 cases, Barkhan, Musakhel, Nushki, and Kalat each reported 4, Lasbela and Quetta 3 each, Kharan and Hub 2 each, and Gwadar and Kachhi 1 each.

 

 

Extrajudicial killing:

Pakistani security forces and death squads were responsible for 36 of the 72 killings reported.

 

Fake Encounter:

May 10:

  • Teaching Hospital Turbat received three bodies, all identified as previously disappeared persons killed in a staged encounter in Hoshap. The victims are: Imran, son of Abdul Wahid, a resident of Dashti Bazar, who forcibly disappeared on April 9, 2025; Hamid, son of Maula Dad, a resident of Apsar, who disappeared on April 14, 2025; and Irshad, son of Zabad, a resident of Jath Kolwah, who was taken by forces on April 5, 2025.

May 25:

  • Pakistani Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel killed three previously disappeared individuals in a staged encounter in the Tang Karir area of Barkhan district and brought their bodies to the Basic Health Unit (BHU) Hospital in Rakni. The victims were identified as Abdul Rehman Buzdar, son of Faiz Muhammad Buzdar, and Farid Buzdar, son of Rahim Buzdar—both residents of Rara Sham—as well as Sultan Marri, son of Eidu Marri. All three had earlier been subjected to enforced disappearance.

May 28:

  • Pakistani forces claimed to have killed four individuals during an exchange of fire in the Rara Sham area of Musakhel. However, local sources reported that the victims—Saleem son of Ibrahim Buzdar, Bakht son of Noor Muhammad Buzdar, Ahmed Khan son of Mir Ahmed Buzdar, and one unidentified person—had previously been in the custody of security forces. Families and residents allege that the men were forcibly disappeared and later killed in a staged encounter.

 

Custodial Killing:

May 04:

  • The body was found in the Firozabad area of Khuzdar district and identified four days later as Muhammad Ramzan, son of Haji Ahmed Dostinzai. He had been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces on August 14, 2014, and after years of uncertainty, his mutilated remains have now been recovered.

May 11:

  • A body bearing multiple bullet wounds was found in the Gramkhan Rakhshan River in Panjgur district. The deceased was identified as Waheed, son of Karim Dad from Isai Kaur, and his body was transported to DHQ Hospital Panjgur. Waheed had been detained and forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces on March 24, 2021, in Chedagi Border along with Bilal.

May 18:

  • On May 17, Younus Rasool, son of Rasool Bakhsh and a resident of Malar Bangul Bazar, district Awaran, was forcibly disappeared in a midnight raid by Pakistani military forces. During the operation, his family members were tortured, harassed, and threatened by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel and state-backed militias known locally as “death squads”. The next day, his mutilated body was found.

May 20:

  • During a raid in the Kolwah Gushang area of Awaran district, Sajid Nasir, son of Nasir Baloch, a Mistri (construction worker), was forcibly taken from his home by Pakistani forces along with a state-backed armed group. The following morning, his tortured body was recovered from Malar Cheel, bearing clear signs of abuse.

May 24:

  • On the night of May 23, 2025, Hanif Aziz, a resident of the Toboo Kad area in Jhao, district Awaran, was forcibly taken from his home by FC. According to details, armed personnel stormed his house without any legal warrant or justification and detained him in front of his family. Less than 24 hours later, on the morning of May 24, his lifeless body was found dumped, showing clear signs of brutal torture and bullet wounds.

May 28:

  • Pakistani security forces detained Sher Jan Khetran from the Baghao area of Barkhan district. Six days later, on May 28, his family received his lifeless body under distressing and suspicious circumstances. The body showed clear signs of brutal torture, indicating he had been severely abused in custody.

May 30:

  • Darman Baloch, son of Rahim Bakhsh and the primary breadwinner for his family, was summoned to a Frontier Corps (FC) camp in Awaran on May 27, 2025. He was released on May 29, but shortly afterward forcibly disappeared again on the same day. On the night of May 30, his mutilated body was found in the Kohro area of the Awaran district.

Indiscriminate Firing:

May 09:

  • Lal Jan Elahi Bakhsh, a resident of Taplo Zamuran, was shot by Pakistani forces firing on a moving vehicle in Panjgur district.

May 14:

  • On May 12, 2025, a 7-year-old girl named Rokia Baloch was shot while sleeping outside her home in Khudabadan, Panjgur district. At around 3:00 AM, personnel from Pakistan’s Frontier Corps (FC) indiscriminately opened fire in the area, and a bullet struck her abdomen. She was rushed to a hospital in Panjgur and later transferred to the district Headquarters Hospital in Kech (Turbat). Despite her family’s efforts, Rokia succumbed to her injuries on May 14.

May 17:

  • In Shekharhi, Kalat, Bakhtiar Ahmed, son of Muhammad Akbar and a resident of Bedar Pull, Naseerabad, was shot dead by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel. The incident occurred as residents gathered to voice their concerns about the ongoing military operations for demolishing their houses forcefully, severely affecting women and children. Rather than addressing their pleas, the FC opened fire, and a bullet killed Bakhtiar.

May 27:

  • Naeem Baloch, son of Sanjar Baloch, and his aunt Hoori, daughter of Qasim, were shot dead by Pakistani forces after they stormed their home around 1 AM and opened indiscriminate fire. Naeem’s mother, Dadi Baloch, was critically injured and left without medical assistance until the following morning, her condition deteriorating due to state-imposed neglect. This massacre is the fourth such incident in Awaran within one week—part of an intensifying campaign of systemic violence. This was not the first time this family had suffered at the hands of the state. In 2015, seven of their relatives, including another aunt, Gohar, were killed in an aerial bombardment. In 2023, Naeem himself was forcibly disappeared. His mother, now critically injured, had previously been detained in 2015.

School Bus attack:

  • On May 21, in a tragic incident in Khuzdar, eight people, including six children, lost their lives, and dozens were injured in a bus attack. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the assault.

Body discovered:

May 01:

  • According to reports, a body was found in Kili Kashmir and identified as Hafizullah, son of Dad Muhammad, a resident of Gazi in Kharan. Hafizullah had been missing since April 26. His remains were discovered stuffed in a sack and abandoned in a wheat field. Police have arrested five individuals in connection with his disappearance, all of whom remain in custody as investigations continue.
  • A body recovered from the Gawash Road area of Surbadu has not yet been identified. Sources claim that a tricolor flag was allegedly found with the body, and the victim appeared to have been shot dead.

May 12:

  • A man was found shot dead in the Pere Jhalag area of Panjgur district. His body was shifted to the Teaching Hospital for identification, but his identity has not yet been confirmed.
  • According to Levies sources, armed men abducted a man from his home in the Bansar area of Nag, killed him at Bansar Chahrai, and dumped his body. The victim was later identified as Mullah Dawood, son of Jan Muhammad and a resident of Nag Bansar. His body was moved to RHC Hospital, though the motive behind the killing remains unknown.
  • Meanwhile, the tortured body of an unidentified person was discovered in the Chandrami area of Kachhi district. Police stated that the man was strangled to death. The body was taken to Civil Hospital Dhadar, where Medical Superintendent Dr. Muhammad Zahid confirmed visible signs of torture.

May 13:

  • Four bodies were recovered from the Galangor area of Nushki district, reportedly shot dead by unknown assailants. They were taken to Teaching Hospital Nushki for post-mortem and identified as residents of Punjab: Moin and Huzaifa from Pakpattan, and Imran Ali and Irfan Ali from Rahim Yar Khan.

May 20:

  • Two bodies have been recovered from the industrial city of Hub Chowki. One, several days old and yet to be identified, was found in the bushes in the Hub Sakuran area. The other was recovered from a drain near the Hub Gadani stop and has been identified as Amjid.

 

Encounter:

May 17:

  • In Singanisar, Turbat, two Baloch Liberation Front members, Amjid Basham and Sabrullah, were killed in an encounter with Pakistani forces.

May 21:

  • Pakistani forces shot dead two Baloch Liberation Army members, Jaber Naseer and Faqir Jan, during an encounter in Gardank, Buleda.

 

Target killing:

May 01:

  • Armed men entered a house in the Malikabad area of Tump, Kech, and shot dead Zubair Abid. Shortly after the incident, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility, stating that Zubair was an informant working for the Pakistani army and intelligence-backed death squads.

May 04:

  • Ehsan, son of Shaukat, who was shot and killed by unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants in the Tump Kolahu area of Kech district around 11:30 a.m. while at his store, had previously been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces from the D-Baloch checkpoint in Turbat in March 2019. He was later released.

May 05:

  • A 15-year-old boy, Ali, son of Musa, was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle in the Rodbun area of Tump. The motive behind the killing remains unknown. Levies personnel shifted the body to Turbat Teaching Hospital.

May 09:

  • On Friday night, unidentified armed men opened fire in the Uthal area of Lasbela, killing three people—including a barber—and injuring one. Two of the victims were reportedly from Punjab and one from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Police arrived at the scene, collected evidence, and transferred the bodies and the injured to a nearby hospital. The injured person was later moved to Karachi for further treatment.

May 10:

  • Unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle shot dead 24-year-old Muhammad Ramzan, son of Muhammad Arif from Koing, Kalat, near the Mughalzai area of Kalat on the Quetta-Karachi highway. His body was taken to the DHQ Hospital Kalat and handed over to his family after formalities were completed.

May 16:

  • Unidentified armed men opened fire in Kalat, killing Lal Muhammad and a woman whose identity has not yet been confirmed. The motive behind the attack remains unknown.

May 17:

  • Two individuals, identified as Mullah Amir and Amanullah from Chitkan, were shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Gomazin area of Panjgur. Police sources confirmed the incident, and the bodies were shifted to the Teaching Hospital Panjgur for post-mortem examination.

May 18:

  • On Sunday, unidentified gunmen opened fire at a barber shop on Quetta’s Sariab Road, killing a man from Meezan, Punjab, on the spot.

May 19:

  • Khalid Lashari, son of Maula Bakhsh and a resident of Zehri, was shot dead by armed men in the Noorgama area of Khuzdar. The Balochistan Liberation Front later claimed responsibility, stating that Khalid was a member of the death squad led by Shafiq Ahmed Mengal, who had been actively involved in forced disappearances of Baloch youth and violence in Khuzdar and its surroundings.

May 20:

  • Yasir Nasram, a teenage resident of Geshkaur Buleda, was shot dead by unidentified armed men in the Bitkaur-e-Pusht area of Buleda. He was the sole breadwinner for his family.

May 22:

  • Two people were killed in a shooting by unidentified gunmen on Thursday evening in the Koh Murad area of Turbat, the main city of Kech district. The deceased have been identified as Rashid Hakim and Dilshad Allah Bakhsh, both reportedly from Kolwah. BLF claimed responsibility for his killing that he was an informer and agent of MI.

May 24:

  • Abdul Latif Baloch, a senior journalist and long-time correspondent for Daily Intekhab, was shot dead by state-backed death squads on May 24, 2025, while asleep at his residence in Mashkay, Awaran.

May 29:

  • Abdul Aziz, son of Noor Muhammad and a resident of Gushang in Awaran district, was summoned by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel to report to Malar FC Camp. However, while en route to the camp, he was shot dead in the Cheel area by members of a state-backed death squad.
  • Mazar, a former Levies officer from Mand Brahui Rec in Kech district, was shot by armed men. Due to the lack of local healthcare facilities, he was taken to Turbat for treatment, but succumbed to his injuries on the way.
  • Nizar Jan, son of Abdul Ghani and a resident of Nasirabad in Kech district, was gunned down by a state-backed death squad. Around sunset, the assailants arrived at his uncle’s hotel in the main bazaar, where he was present, and opened fire at point-blank range.

May 30:

  • A police constable, Sagheer Ahmed, son of Basheer Ahmed and a resident of Gwarjak, was shot dead by members of a state-backed death squad in Shareeki, Mashkay, Awaran district.
  • Musafir Baloch, a driver and son of Pir Dad from Balgetar, Keelkaur, was shot dead by members of a state-backed death squad in the Apsar area of Turbat district, Kech.

May 31:

  • Tribal leader Abdul Salam Bazai and his brother Abdul Nafi Bazai were killed in an explosion in Quetta’s Killi Mangla area. Police sources indicate the blast specifically targeted Abdul Salam Bazai. Six others were injured and taken to the hospital. The motive behind the attack remains unknown.
